You can use the following DRAB to help remember

D - DANGER

R - RESPONSE?

SHOUT FOR HELP

A - AIRWAY (TILT THE HEAD BACK)

B- BREATHING (LOOK, LISTEN AND FEEL BREATHING FOR MAX 10 SECONDS)

If not breathing:-

CALL 999 OR 112 (SEND A HELPER OR PHONE YOURSELF IF ALONE)


START 30 COMPRESSION'S TO 2 BREATHS

PUSH THE CHEST WALLS DOWN 5 TO 6 CM WITH HEAL OF YOUR HANDS ON THE BREAST BONE and at a rate of 100 to 120 times a minute.

STOP WHEN:-

  • you become tired;
  • the paramedics arrive and take over;
  • the casualty starts breathing for themselves
  • if there is another trained person with you, swap every 1 to 2 minutes

CHILD CPR (RESUSCITATION FROM AGE 1 TO THE ONSET OF PUBERTY)

You can still use DRAB to help you remember
