Trainer/Assessor Job

Background Information

Life Line Training & Operations are a company that provides vocational training for a variety of customers such as Councils, Welsh Government, Schools, Care homes, Charities as well as privately owned companies.

We have extremely high standards of Customer services and expect nothing less, however working with us is rewarding and challenging but you will be part of a family unit and will be treated as such.

What we are looking for

We are looking to employ a staff member to undertake the role of a trainer/assessor. The Successful employee must be experienced in delivering First Aid as a minimum however, other experience delivering other qualifications would be a bonus.

Hourly Rate of pay

Hours will be over 4 days per week but must be flexible to cover over 5 days where required.

Please note wage will be based on current competencies and will increase as further experience is gained.

1st Tier

Wage will start at £16,640 per annum for the minimum required experience of training all First aid subject areas such as:

3 Day First Aid at Work

1 Day EFAW and 1 Day EPFA etc.

2nd Tier

Ability to train up to 4 subjects including First aid - £18,720 per annum.

3rd Tier

Ability to train 5 subjects + - £20.,800 per annum.

Mandatory Skills and experience required.

Skills and required attributes are: -

 Must hold a Level 3 + teaching/Assessing qualification.

 Must be committed to further training in other subject areas.

 Must be Confident.

 Must hold a current First aid at work certificate at Level 3,

 Must be driven and ambitious.

 Must be open to challenges.

 Must have a desire to excel in the work they do.

 Must have extremely high level of patience and empathy.

 Must be supportive and understanding of individual needs.

 Must have experience delivering to a variety of learners and be able to adapt training to a diverse audience.

 Must have evidence of CPD.

 Be open to constructive feedback.

 Must have attention to detail as will be expected to complete course paperwork for awarding bodies.

 Must be open to carrying out other duties not associated with training at the office in Port Talbot. (Further details in the job Description.

 Must be willing to travel and make overnight stays where required, however this will be rare.

 Must have a clean driving licence (company van will be provided), may be required to use own transport if van temporarily unavailable.

Job Description

 Training and assessing First aid courses in addition to other relevant courses where required.

 Assist in the development and Design of courses.

 Preparing own course paperwork for delivering courses

 Accurately completing paperwork and ensuring paperwork is secure following data protection.

 Maintaining the Health Safety and wellbeing of others.

Flexible working

Flexible working days (4 days between Monday – Friday)

Contracted hours

We are employing under a 3-month rolling contract subject to a 3-month probationary period.

Employee will be expected to be flexible with their weekly shifts as they could either be asked to work a full 5 days a week (payment will be made for the extra shift) or just the basic 4 days per week.

Working hours will be between 8.30 (not including travelling) – 4.30pm.


All equipment will be provided such as laptop, projector, Mannikins etc in addition to a company van.


Ongoing training and CPD will be required.

There will be a 3 stage process which will include

 Stage 1 – CV and Covering Letter (must be provided in an attached email by no later than Wednesday 19th May 5pm). Successful Candidates will be notified on Thursday to attend the next stage (selection day).

 Stage 2 – Selection Day will be held at Nantyfyllon RFC Blosse street Maesteg CF34 0BU and will be the micro teach which will be marked by a panel of 3 staff members who will be assessing you throughout your micro teach. Please allow at least an hour for this session.

 Stage 3 – Interview day (this will be conducted on Monday 24th May at our HQ in Port Talbot at Life Line Training and operations, Seaway Parade, Baglan energy park, Port Talbot SA12 7BR. Evidence must be provided for all current certificates.

If selected for the open day you will be required to:

Deliver a half hour practical micro teach on a First aid subject, choices between CPR, Primary and secondary survey with recovery position, Wound’s bleeding and shock. This will be marked by 3 members of Life Line Training and Operations staff and will be scored on your

 Personality,

 Attention to detail.

 Support

 Ability to answer questions correctly.

 Communication and Listening skills.
